These are instructions on how to print on the Canon printers around campus via USB cable or flash drive.
Windows Laptops
- Connect your laptop via the USB cable attached to the printer.
- Wait for it to appear in your printer settings (Bluetooth & Devices -> Printers & Scanners) It will appear as Canon MF1538C / C1538i UFR II (The numbers may be different depending on the printer model)
- If it says "Driver not available", feel free to ignore it. You should not have to install any print drivers.
- Select a file, and press Ctrl + P to print.
- You may have to click "See more" if the printer doesn't show up as an option.
MacBooks
- Connect your laptop via the USB Cable attached to the printer.
- When prompted, allow the printer to connect.
- Add the printer by going to Settings -> Printers & Scanners -> Add Printer. It will appear as Canon MF1538C / C1538i UFR II (The numbers may be different depending on the printer)
- In the "Use" dropdown, select "Generic PostScript Printer" then click Add.
- Select a file, and press Cmd + P to print.
- You may have to click "See more" if the printer doesn't show up as an option.
Flash Drives
- Add the desired files onto your USB Flash drive.
- Plug the flash drive into the port to the right of the display screen.
- On the printer, select "Access Stored Files" -> "Memory Media"
- Select the desired file to print, press "Print" -> "Ok" -> "Start Printing"
General Use
- If you have any issues, call the IT Help Desk at 704-637-4666, email [email protected], or come see us in the first floor of Hoke Hall.
- If the printer gives an error saying there is no paper, press "Status Monitor" in the bottom right, select the drawer that does have paper, then press "Ok".
- To avoid confusion, remove the printer before moving to a different one.
