How to register my smart TV or streaming device

In order to use your smart TV or streaming device on the Catawba network, you will need to register it using the process below.

To register your smart tv or streaming device:

Step 1. Go to cncp.catawba.edu, scroll to the Other Devices section at bottom of the webpage, and log in using your Catawba username and password.

Step 2. Click the Register a Device link (bold white text).

Step 3. Follow instructions on webpage to obtain MAC address on your device, then enter the MAC address in text field at top of webpage and click Register button. If your device isn’t specifically listed on the page, you may have to search Google for “find mac address” plus the type of device you have.

Make sure if you are using a wired connection, you register the wired MAC address. If you are using a wireless connection, you’ll need to register the wireless MAC address and make sure you connect to the CatawbaGuest wireless network.

You are able to register up to 4 separate MAC addresses for different devices – game consoles, streaming devices, etc.

Step 4. Once you click the Register button, most likely your machine will be registered quickly and you’ll be ready to stream content within about half an hour.

Didn’t Work?

First, make sure you have the right MAC address entered. The MAC address is not the serial number. It is usually found in the network settings of whatever device you are connecting. If you are using a wired connection, you will need the MAC address of the wired port. If you are using wireless, make sure you are using the wireless MAC address. If you have gone through the device registration process above, and are having problems connecting, submit an IT Service Request—send an email to [email protected] (please include your username, dorm location, and phone number) or go to it.catawba.edu and submit a request. If your Ethernet port (jack in the wall) is damaged, submit an IT Service Request—send text or email to [email protected] (please include your username, dorm location, and phone number) or go to it.catawba.edu and submit a request.
